Mahindra – The Rise to Leadership Position of Car Market

Mahindra started off as a small steel company in 1945, which later got into manufacturing of the world-famous Willys Jeeps in India and then small commercial vehicles. Today the company is arguably the best manufacturers of SUVs in Indian market. The marque is in a tussle with other manufacturers who lead the market in terms of sales. As per figures obtained from SIAM, this SUV giant is one of the top four companies by sales volume in Indian market. The battle for number three position continues between the two big names of India, Mahindra and Tata.

In the last few years, Mahindra cars has come to light with some super hit models from its stable. The glory of Jeeps stood for over four decades and resulted in the growth of the company. Once the fame started to fade away it was the Scorpio that brought back Mahindra to spot light. The vehicle was completely designed and manufactured in India and is sold in different parts of the world. It continues to be one of the best-selling models of auto maker’s portfolio. With an aim to make Mahindra Scorpio more competitive, the auto marque recently came up with new features like the Micro Hybrid technology (which turns off and turns on the engine automatically to save fuel when the vehicle is stationary), automatic transmission system and blue vision bulbs.

Mahindra XUV 500

The people mover which has been in the game for Mahindra for a long time is the Bolero. Being a 6-seater the vehicle is very practical in terms of space and comfort. The quality of materials used in the cabin of recent models of Bolero is much better when compared to previous versions. The MUV is equipped with the same intelligent engine stop system which is used in Scorpio. With decals on side body the car looks more alluring. The price tag of Mahindra Bolero is perhaps the most exciting factor about the vehicle. The sturdy 6-seater vehicle costs just between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 11 lakh which is comparable to the price of high-end hatchbacks that are sold by local auto leaders.

One of the most recent success stories of Mahindra runs around the urban grounds of India, South Africa, Italy and Australia. This automobile is huge, is majestic and boasts of aggressive design cues which give it a unique status in the market. It is called as the XUV500. This SUV is again an in-house achievement of Mahindra. The vehicle is styled after taking inspiration from the body of cheetah. The interior of this vehicle is much richer than all other vehicles from the same firm and the manufacturer has made sure to equip it with all high-end technological components available at the company’s backyard. Touchscreen navigation system, Electronic Stability Program, Tyre-Tronics system, Hill Descent Control and Voice Command enabled audio system with Bluetooth connectivity showcase the superiority of this SUV and all this is available at a cost of Rs 11 lakh to Rs 16 lakh.
